Hope you are all having a great weekend. Yesterday was date-night and the boy and I went to this amazing restaurant in a hotel on Tiamiyu Savage in VI. The hotel is called The Avenue Suites but the restaurant on the 6th floor is called Uptown. Again, I apologise for the quality of photos, I still don’t have my camera charger.

I wore something very comfortable. I like to go for comfort when I go out to eat so that I can nurse my food baby in peace..lol..I carried a purse I got from Primark almost 5 years ago. Who says Primarni things are no good? The purse is still in tip-top shape.

When we got to the restaurant on the 6th floor, we were pleasantly welcomed by the waiters and shown to our table. The managers also came round to say hello. The lighting and decor in the restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing. It has a warm and cosy ambiance about it. Definitely appropriate for a cosy, romantic dinner.

Some nuts and popcorn were provided whilst we made our menu choices. To start, we ordered some shrimp dumplings. To go with that, the restaurant also provided some fresh bread rolls which were on the house. The dumplings were an absolute delight, very tasty. It was a good choice of starter.
For mains, I ordered Grilled Jumbo Prawns with a side of Carbonara Pasta while he ordered the Salmon with fries. The wait time was only about 20 minutes. The prawns were freaking ah-mah-zing!!! I’m a sea food lover, so when it is done well, it pleases my soul. I was smiling through out my dinner. The carbonara pasta was also done very nicely. It is actually not on their pasta menu but I requested it and the lovely chef made it specially for me :-).
The boy also enjoyed his salmon as there was some lip smacking..haha.. He said it was really lovely! My only grouse with the mains was that I wasn’t served vegetables with mine but immediately I pointed it out, some vegetables were brought for me.

For dessert, I had some ice cream which was quite nice. I’m never happy if I don’t have dessert after a meal out, lol. Who else is like that?
It cost both of us about 16,000 naira for the meal. It’s quite pricey but well worth it trust me. The quality of the food and the atmosphere are a win-win. However, their MasterCard machine was not working. It was quite inconvenient to leave the restaurant to get cash at an ATM.
After dinner, we sat at the restaurant bar and had some drinks. The bar was stocked with fine liquor of all kinds. I had a vodka-tonic as per usual.
The hotel has also got a lounge/club on the 7th floor with it’s own bar and a DJ. The bar again was well stocked with everything from gigantic size bottles of Louis Roederer vintage, to other exquisite champagnes, various whiskeys and cognacs. It was pretty empty at the time I went to have a look because apparently it comes alive around midnight. I loved the space though it had a very private club feel.
All in all, I will definitely recommend this restaurant because the atmosphere is a dream, the waiters are nice and polite, the wait time is reasonable and the food is excellent. The lounge bar/club is also an added bonus if you would like to party after your meal!
Peace and Love,
