Wale from The Naked Convos

Hey people, Toolsman here.

I’m sorry; I almost got carried away there for a second.Well, if you’re wondering what’s going on here, you were probably right the first time – yes, this is a blog invasion. I’m here for two reasons. One – we just couldn’t take it anymore – all of you amazing women, loving all the finer things of the world come together here and you want to leave us men out? Nah, we can’t have that. The second reason is slightly selfish to deliver a message on behalf of all the awesome men out there, so here goes…

Too many times I get ‘that’ message on my Blackberry; it could even be a text, a Twitter DM and sometimes a call. It almost always starts out the same way…

… Hey Toolsman, I’m really sorry to bug but I need a HUGE favour. I’ve got this amazing man/boyfriend/lover/(guy on the side) and it’s going to be his birthday next week and I have absolutely no idea what to get him. I follow your tweets and I know you’ll probably be able to help if it’s not too much to ask for.

Signed: Desperate Gurlfriend/lover/Side chic etc

It’s going to be Christmas in 16 days and I know a lot of women out there are already preparing this email/text or whatever to send out to me or some other male friend out there. In order to help you skip this step and also skip the holiday shopping rush, I’ve put together a short list of some of the hottest gifts out there this year for your man.

I have refused to title this “My Wishlist” but I’m hoping you, yes YOU, read this.

Fifa 13

It’s only right that I quickly get through things you may have to compete with for his time right? Well, like I often tell most of my female friends, apart from ‘knowing’ your man’s ‘hustle’, you might want to spend sometime learning about his play things too. The new FIFA 13 is more than a play thing, it’s like him taking control of his favourite EPL team and what better way is there to celebrate when he gives one of his most competitive friends a good whopping?

Nokia Lumia 920

No it’s not the iPhone or the Samsung S3, nope. The hottest phone out there this Christmas is the Lumia 920. It’s big and bold with it’s ‘in-your-face’ colours but it also comes with more than enough features to keep your man engaged. With the new Windows Phone 8 OS, NFC, wireless charging etc, this is one toy that’ll definitely set your man apart from the rest.

Noir by Tom Ford

It’s been a weird year for Men and even women’s fragrances with some of the best performing products turning out to be the extreme and sorta ‘odd’ ones. However, with proper placement and merchandising, some brands have been able to stay in our minds.  Noir by Tom Ford is an amazing fragrance and if not for how good it smells, then for the refined minimalism of the bottle,it’s definitely something to class up the top of his dresser.

 Google Chromebook

Once again it’s not the new Mac Book Pro or the iPad Mini. The man on the move has a serious dilemma these days. As awesome as tablets are, they are hardly productive and often expensive. Google’s Chromebook is internet-friendly and ultra cheap.  Samsung’s latest offering is the best yet: carry-on light at 1.1kg, it’s got 100GB ofGoogle Drive storage (with 16GB built-in, for when you’re not online), comes compatible with a host of Google Play apps, can take a 3G sim-card for when you’re away from Wi-Fi and boasts a flight-friendly 6.5hour battery life.

007 The Archives

This year, 007 has skydived with the Queen, returned toblistering form in Skyfall and even starred in his own dedicated issue of GQ; that’s what we call a 50th birthday party. To mark the occasion, Taschen has released The Archives, the definitive history of Bond from Sean Connery in Dr No to Daniel Craig’s latest outing. It’s packed with never-before-seen images, insider secrets, and most remarkably a gargantuan oral history of the franchise, made up of interviews with 150 cast and crew members over the last 50years.

(Review Via: GQ)

It’s available on Amazon and yes, you can have it delivered to Nigeria.

So there you have it. My holiday gift shopping guide for you. Now I feel like I’ve done my good deed for the rest of the year. Please go out there and make your men happy this Christmas.

Merry Christmas.
