Before now, I completely detested black american originated slangs that referred to good makeup as “face beat”, “makeup beat”, “face beat for the gods” yaddi yaddi ya. I just thought they made no sense at all -_-
Fast forward to April 25th 2014, now I can’t stop saying that my face was BEAT for the damn gods!!
It was my birthday and I was having a dinner with a number of close friends and family. Now it wasn’t just any odd birthday, I was celebrating something very special :-). You see about 6 months ago, I got engaged. I have been struggling with whether to let you guys on the blog in on it but I decided, what the heck? lol. So yes, I am engaged and we celebrated this on my birthday (which also happened to be my fiance’s birthday too). Bizarre? I know! 🙂
Anyway, for this special day, I knew that I didn’t want to do my own makeup, I wanted to feel like a princess haha. So my friend Kehinde recommended somebody called Labisi Folawiyo. I looked on her Instagram page and saw that she was pretty good, so I decided to go with her.
Brethren, Labisi is not only good, she is amazing! She transformed my face in such an unbelievable yet believable way… I’m not sure that makes sense but yeah :). Immediately I sat in her chair, I felt at ease and just let her work her magic. Usually people like me that believe that they can do their own makeup better than any so called MUA tend to be the most annoying clients, forever meddling. But with Labisi, I never even looked at a mirror till she was pretty much done. The result: Mind = Blown!
I love what she did and received so many compliments on the night. In fact someone said that this one is a Face WOZE! Now my best friend and I refer to her as Face Woze by Labisi…lol! Can I just say that she is also a really sweet girl, it definitely added to me feeling comfortable and trusting her, it was a nice experience.
