Bye Bye Flashback…The Best Setting Powder Ever!

Remember when Kim K made us believe that Ben Nye Banana Powder was the shit? A yellow AF powder on black skin…What were we thinking? I stan hard for Kimmy but babe had us “sistas” taking a major L on this one…The flashback I and many other black females around the world suffered from using banana powder was frankly embarrassing. If you are still using it today, stop reading this post, go and bin it, then come back and continue reading…

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting  Powder

After hearing so much about how WOC friendly this powder is, I finally bought it some months back. Since I started using it, I’ve been asking myself why it took me so damn long!

It’s so finely milled and soft that it just blends nicely into the skin. The shade is also truly translucent which also makes it a winner for me…Not yellow, not white, just translucent! So you’re getting all the benefits of a great setting powder while retaining the colour of your foundation or concealer that you are trying to set.. It’s great for use all over the face because it really helps to control shine but I use it more to bake the concealer under my eyes and it works like a dream. My concealer stays put for hours without cracking. This powder is every “baker’s” dream…

At $38 in the US and N20,000 in Nigeria for the regular size, this is definitely a splurge albeit a worthy one if you ask me. You can purchase it here.  Laura Mercier is known to be a luxury brand and this product does not fail to match up to expectation at all. I put it on my favourite products of 2016 list (see here) and it is well deserving.
