Every Season is Glow Season….

I’ve had these two highlighters for several weeks but only started using them AFTER I took pictures. #BeautyBloggingStruggle

I wanted to put these two popular highlighters head to head and see which one, if any, is actually better …

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Topaz

Becca is renowned for making bomb highlighters but this Topaz shade is particularly popular. It’s a warm golden shade that particularly works well for medium to dark skin tones.  Truth is many highlighters end up looking frosty on black women; like you left your house with eyeshadow fall out on your cheeks…Not this one.

Another thing that makes Topaz stand out is it’s soft texture, makes it sit really well on the skin without making you look like a disco ball. If disco-ball is your thing though, ahead-ahead, this highlighter is very build able to what ever degree of #Glow you are after. I usually aim for somewhere in the middle..

it retails for $38 in the US but you can buy it in Nigeria here.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Ultimate Glow Kit

ABH definitely contributed to the current highlighting madness in the world  with these Glow Kits. The first few they released had only 4 shades but this one that they call the Ultimate Glow Kit has 6 shades. The highlighters that best complement my skin tone are Golden Dawn, Sunset, Amber Gold and Hot Sand. The other two shades are much lighter and I’m still trying to figure out how to use them without looking like a ghost.

The texture of the highlighters like Becca’s is very smooth and easy to apply. Highlighters with smooth textures make you look like the glow is from within and all that jazz (who are we kidding?).

These retail for $45 in the US but you can buy it in Nigeria here.

If I had to pick one of the two, I  would pick the ABH Ultimate Glow Kit simply because of variety. You are getting more bang for your buck with  6 gorgeous shades to choose from,.However, if you are looking out more for colour intensity than variety, Topaz is more luminous than the Glow Kit. Want just one BOMB highlighter?  Beccaa Topaz is an excellent choice!

    Happy New Year Yewande!
Hmm this ABH highlighter feels like it's not fine milled, there's just something off about the consistency. If they work on the formula it will definitely be a HIT for me.
